UPDATE (7:10 pm) – Des Moines police say the suspected shooter had legally possessed a gun and had fired in self-defense after they were violently assaulted. The person suspected of assaulting the shooter has since been released from the hospital and has been charged with assault causing injury.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) – Two people were injured in a shooting inside a Hy-Vee in northeast Des Moines Sunday morning. The shooting started with an argument in the store, according to police.
Police say that both people have non-life-threatening injuries.

DMPD tweeted at 10:57 am that there was a shooting investigation at a grocery store in the 2500 block of E. Euclid Avenue. This address matches up with a Hy-Vee, and Lauren Johnson, an on-scene reporter for KCCI, Tweeted that it happened at Hy-Vee.
Police say the shooter was detained within three minutes of the call and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
