Retired U.S. goalie arrested on DWI, child abuse

Hope Solo, a retired US soccer goalkeeper and two-time Olympic gold medalist, was arrested on DWI and child abuse cartoons outside of a Walmart store Thursday in Winston-Salem. Solo, whose legal name is Hope Amelia Stevens, was arrested in the parking lot of the Walmart on Parkway Village Circle.Solo is charged with impaired driving, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse.Police said Solo’s two children were in the car at the time of the offense.Solo was taken into custody and transferred to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center, where she was processed and subsequently released.The following statement was posted on Solo’s Twitter account Friday afternoon:”On the advice of counsel, Hope can’ t speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these cartoons.”Solo and her husband, Jerramy Stevens, are parents of 2-year-old twins — Vittorio Genghis Stevens and Lozen Orianna Judith Stevens.
