Attempted carjacking of a RTA bus in New Orleans East

There were two carjackings that were reported by the New Orleans police yesterday, one including the attempted carjacking of a public transportation bus. According to reports, arrested officers Terrance Johnson, 21, after he allegedly approached a bus driver of an RTA in New Orleans East on the 7700 block of Grant Street right before on yesterday wanting to steal the bus. The bus driver refused, and the unarmed suspect fled on foot toward Wilson Avenue. Later that evening in New Orleans East, three men with handguns and a rifle 1 victim from behind and demanded his keys on the 0000 block of Chimney Wood Lane. The victim complied and the subjects fled in the victim’s 2021 silver Chevrolet Traverse. The Chevrolet Traverse was recovered in a short time via OnStar. There is currently no other information available about the two incidents.

Later that evening in New Orleans East, three men with handguns and a rifle claimed a victim from behind and demanded his keys on the 1000 block of Chimney Wood Lane. The victim complied and the subjects fled in the victim’s 2021 silver Chevrolet Traverse.

The Chevrolet Traverse was recovered in a short time via OnStar.

There is currently no other information available about the two incidents.
